Batman Animated Series Say That Were Sweethearts Again Arleen Sorkin La La Land
"Say That We're Sweethearts Over again" is a song by Earl Brent performed in the 1944 MGM moving picture Encounter the People by deadpan singer Virginia O'Brien. A popular version of the song was also released past vocalizer Dorothy Shay in 1946. The song tells about an calumniating fellow dumping the vocalizer and finding another girl.
The song was later featured in the season two episode from Batman: The Animated Series, "Harlequinade" (May 23, 1994), being sung past Harley Quinn in order to distract a mob boss and his gang while Batman and Robin sneak in. The Batman version was performed by Harley'south and then vocalism actress Arleen Sorkin.

Lyrics
Life used to exist a gay thing,
A "filled-with-happiness-night-and-day" thing.
It was something to have and to agree,
Only information technology seems that your love grew cold.
I never knew that our romance had ended
Until y'all poisoned my nutrient
And I thought it was a lark
When you kicked me in the park,
But now I think it was rude.
I never knew that you and I were finished
Until that bottle hit my caput.
Though I tried to exist aristocratic
When you pushed me off the roof,
I feel our romance is dead.
It wouldn't take been so bad if you'd told me,
If you'd told me that someone had all of a sudden taken my identify — Huh! —
Merely, no, you didn't even scold me:
Y'all just tried to disfigure my face.
You lot'll never know how this heart of mine is breaking;
It looks so hopeless, merely then
Our life could still exist sweet and placid
If you'd merely put down that acid
And say we're sweethearts once again!
[spoken] Remember that night in Bridgeport,
When the moon shone down on both of us
And the cakewalk sang a love vocal,
And yous looked at me, and I looked at you,
And you didn't know what to practice —
So you broke my leg?
I thought there was sort of a strange expect in your eyes,
But then yous smiled, and it fabricated everything all right.
And so there was that lovely fourth dimension we went to New England
And y'all gear up burn to my dress.
You said you lot pushed me overboard to put out the flame,
Merely I could never quite understand why you held my caput nether h2o so long.
Of course, I've never met this person who's taken my identify,
But I desire you to know that I wish you all the luck in the world,
And if in that location's anything I can exercise — anything at all —
You can attain me in room Number 304
At the General Hospital.
Farewell, my sweet.
You'll never know how this eye of mine is breaking;
It looks so hopeless, simply then,
Our love is great — no love tin can match it —
Darling, please put down that hatchet,
And say nosotros're sweethearts once more!
AAAAH!
Life used to be a gay thing,
A "filled-with-happiness-night-and-day" affair.
Information technology was something to have and to hold,
Simply it seems that your love grew common cold.
I never knew that our romance had ended
Until you poisoned my nutrient
And I thought information technology was a lark
When you kicked me in the park,
But now I think information technology was rude.
I never knew that our romance had finished
Until that bottle hit my caput.
Though I tried to be aristocratic
When yous pushed me off the roof,
I feel our romance is dead.
It wouldn't take been so bad if you'd told me
That someone had taken my place,
But, no, yous didn't even scold me:
You just tried to disfigure my face.
You'll never know how my poor heart is breaking;
It looks so helpless, but so
Life used to be so placid —
Won't yous please put back that acid
And say that we're sweethearts again?
[spoken] Oh, how well I remember
That night in Bridgeport.
That was the night you gave me the hotfoot.
I thought that there was sort of a foreign await in your eyes,
But then you smiled, and, well, it made everything all correct.
So there was the time we went canoeing
And you set burn to my dress.
You said yous pushed me overboard to put out the flame,
Only I never quite understood why you lot held me nether water so long.
Now, I've never met this girl who's taking my place,
Simply I wish yous all the happiness in the world,
And if at that place's anything I can do,
Yous know you tin can e'er accomplish me in room Number 304
In the Full general Hospital.
Cheerio, my sweet.
You'll never know how my poor heart is breaking
It looks then helpless, but then
My love can go just so far —
Won't yous please put down that crow bar
And say that we're sweethearts again?
I never knew that our romance had ended
Until you poisoned my food
And I thought it was a lark
When y'all kicked me in the park,
But now I recollect it was rude.
I never knew that you and I were finished
Until that bottle striking my head.
Though I tried to be aloof
When you pushed me off the roof,
I experience our romance is dead.
It wouldn't have been then bad if you had told me
That someone had taken my identify,
Only no — no, you lot didn't even scold me:
Yous just tried to disfigure my face.
You'll never know how this heart of mine is breaking.
Information technology looks so hopeless, just then
Life used to be so placid —
Won't yous please put down that acid
And say that nosotros're sweethearts again?
